Safety & Recalls
To provide better service in alerting the American people to unsafe, hazardous or defective products, six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together to create www.recalls.gov -- a "one stop shop" for U.S. Government recalls. Topics covered include: consumer products, motor vehicles, boats, food, medicine, cosmetics and environmental products. There is also a link to report unsafe products to CPSC (US Consumer Product Safety Commission.)
- Suffolk County Department of Health Services Restaurant Inspection Information
This website was developed to provide an internet tool that enables Suffolk County consumers to obtain inspection information that will allow them to make an informed decision regarding patronage of any food service establishment in Suffolk.
- U.S. Food and Drug Administration
FDA is the federal agency responsible for ensuring that foods are safe, wholesome and sanitary; human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices are safe and effective; cosmetics are safe; and electronic products that emit radiation are safe. FDA also ensures that these products are honestly, accurately and informatively represented to the public.
- US Consumer Product Safety Commission
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from thousands of types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction, such as toys, cribs, power tools, cigarette lighters, and household chemicals.
