Wireless Access Policy
Wireless users agree to abide by the library’s Internet Public Use Policy and Guidelines, which prohibits abusive or illegal activity while using the library’s Internet Service. Please be aware that the library staff can only verify whether the library’s wireless connection is up and running. It is the responsibility of the patron to configure their equipment for Wireless Access.
- You may need to refer to the owner's manual or other support services offered by your computer or wireless card vendor.
- Please note that the library cannot assist patrons with their laptops, wireless cards, or configurations. The library cannot accept the liability of handling a patron’s equipment.
- The library cannot be responsible for any changes patrons make to their computer's settings. If you changed your laptop's network configuration to make it work in the library, remember to change it back when you are at home or at work.
Wireless Access Security
- The library is not responsible for any personal information that is compromised, or for any damage caused to a patron’s hardware or software due to security issues or consequences caused by viruses or hacking.
- As with most public wireless "hot spots," this connection is not secure. Potentially, another wireless user could intercept any information being sent or received.
- The library does not take responsibility for damages incurred for incorrect, insufficient or incomplete security settings; or lack of adequate or up-to-date virus protection. Wireless users assume all risks in this regard. Please take appropriate precautions when using this service:
- Utilizing virus protection, personal firewall, and other measures to protect the information on your laptop is highly recommended, and is the sole responsibility of the laptop users.
- The bandwidth available for the wireless Internet connection is shared with all other wireless users in the library. To show consideration for their needs, we ask that patrons do not download excessively large files.
