Aaron Kramer Collection

Aaron KramerThe Connetquot Public Library has a collection of the works of Dr. Aaron Kramer, who resided in Oakdale from 1971 until his death in April 1997. 

Dr. Kramer was born in Brooklyn in 1921. He attended Brooklyn College from 1941 to 1951, where he received his bachelor and master of arts degrees in English literature. In 1966, he was awarded a Ph.D. in English literature from New York University. He started teaching at Dowling College in 1961 and became a professor in 1966. He retired from that post in 1992 and continued to teach part-time as a professor emeritus until late 1996.

The Kramer Collection at the library contains many of his works dating from the 1940's through the 1990's. It includes his works of poetry, translations of German and Yiddish literature and books that he had edited or for which he had written the foreward. Audio and video recordings of his lectures, radio programs and performances of his works are also included.
