Text a Question to a Librarian

 

How do I text a question to a librarian?
To send a question via text messaging from your cell phone, text 631-355-3614 and start your message with the keyword cnqt followed by a space. Type your question and press”Send.”


Example: cnqt Can I still register for the book discussion?


What do I need to use this service?
You need a cell phone that is enabled to send and receive text messages.


When should I use this service?
The service is ideal for asking quick, simple questions that can be answered in short responses
(under 160 characters). Questions that require a longer response should be directed to the reference desk by telephone (631-567-5079), via email (question@connetquotlibrary.org), or in person.


Questions regarding your account can not be answered through text messaging. Questions about items you have checked out, overdue fines, renewals, or other questions about your account can be asked by contacting the Circulation Desk at 631-567-5079.


When will I get a response?
During our hours of operation, we will try to respond to your message with 30 minutes. Questions received after hours will receive an auto response message indicating that the service is closed.


The library is not responsible for text messages that are not received by the library, or for delays caused by telecommunications carriers or Internet connectivity delays or outages. 


What are the hours of operation?
The service will be available Monday through Friday from 9am to 9pm, Saturdays from 10am to 5pm, and Sundays (October through May) from 1-5pm.


How will I get a response?
Responses will be sent as text messages to the phone that was used to ask the question.
