SUMMARY:Sign-up for Book Discussion begins
DESCRIPTION:The Lost Wife by Alyson RichmanOpen to district residents only.  Limit of 20 people. Long Island-born Alyson Richman opens The Lost Wife with a happy resolution for the elderly main characters\, Josef and Lenka. She then uses the succeeding chapters to take us back to when these grandparents were young Jewish newlyweds at the start of WWII.  Josef's family is able to flee Prague for America but Lenka refuses to leave without her parents.  Lenka's family is forced into Terezin\, a ghetto where she must create art for the Nazis\, and later to Auschwitz. The lack of communication leads the two young marrieds to believe the other has died\, and they begin post-war life with new mates. The strength to endure the unthinkable shines through this powerful novel\, the Long Island Reads choice for 2012. Sign-up begins at the adult reference desk Wednesday\, March 7. You will receive discussion questions and a copy of the book at that time.\n______________________________\nThis Event Downloaded From a Helios Calendar Powered Site
