Long Island Blood Services, a division of New York Blood Center, is urging all those eligible to donate blood to please do so. Your library will be hosting a blood drive in the community room, run by Long Island Blood Services. Blood donors must be age 16 - 75; 16 year-old with parental permission, 76+ with a doctor's note; weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in generally good health. All donors receive a free mini medical exam and information about their temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure, and hemoglobin level. At the time of donation, donors must present either a photo or signed identification and their social security number.
