Holiday Craft: Scherenschnitte (paper cutting)
Open to district residents only. Limit of 20 people. Please pay a $3.00 materials fee.
Enjoy learning to make a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch folk art piece to give as a unique gift or serve as a memorable holiday decoration at home. Have in mind a picture or subject that has special meaning for you, such as a person, place, animal, holiday symbol, etc. Instructor Kari Kaczmarek will guide and show you how to make a white paper cut-out of your subject. Mount this on a dark paper background to create a reverse silhouette, an impressive handiwork (up to 16" x 16" in size). You will need to bring sharp, pointed scissors to class.
